Should You Upgrade to QuickBooks 2016?

Question: Is it time to upgrade to QuickBooks Premier 2016?

Answer: QuickBooks Premier 2016 was released in November 2015. Every year when software comes out, it takes time for the bugs to get worked out, and Premier 2016 is no exception.

It’s wise to wait a few months after the initial release to upgrade. My guiding rule is to wait until at least three updates have been released.

As to Premier 2016, there are some new features that will make working with Premier easier:

  1. There now is a bill tracker feature through the “vendor” tab. This will give you an instant snapshot of funds going out, and you can pay from this screen. You don’t have to go to a report to see this.
  2. When you create a supplier payment option from a customer sales order, you can now check a box to automatically copy the “ship to address” rather than clicking the “drop ship” link that was needed previously.
  3. The online payment feature is an easy way to include a payment link on the invoices you email to your customers. Payment options are through a credit card or a bank transfer. These are through a secure Intuit system, but do carry a fee.
